#JustIn: Potential workforce 1.6 million strong
People in Namibia who fall into the productive age range of 15 to 59 total 1 696 353, or 56.1% of the country’s entire population.
According to the preliminary results of the 2023 Population and Housing Census, conducted by the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA), the highest number of people in the range are aged 15 and 23 years. Last year, there were 59 595 people aged 15, while 59 314 were 23 years old.
There were more than 50 000 people in each of the age groups from 15 to 20 years.
The number of people who 59 in 2023 and should retire this year, totalled 14 871.
The total number of people in the different age groups were:
15-19: 278 602
20-29: 514 405
30-39: 429 566
40-49: 291 967
50-59: 181 813
