#JustIn: Trade deficit doubles
Namibia’s trade deficit rose to N$4.5 billion in March, up from N$3.9 billion the previous month and N$2.2 billion a year ago.
Figures just released by the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) show export earnings recorded an increase of 36.5% from N$6.1 billion in February this year to N$8.3 billion. Compared to March last year, however, exports declined by 18.6% from N$10.2 billion.
Imports for the month under review stood at N$12.8 billion, translating into an increase of 27.9% month-on-month and 2.9% year-on-year.
