Namibia recognised as continental leader in agrifood transformation

Namibia was lauded as a prime example for the African Union’s new ten-year agricultural plan during the opening of the consultative technical workshop on the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Kampala Results Framework on 24 March in Windhoek.

“Namibia is now one of the leading countries on the continent in aligning its planning frameworks with CAADP Kampala,” said Manyewu Mutamba, Senior Programme Officer for Food Security at the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD).

Mutamba noted that the multi-stakeholder and consultative effort, combined with strong leadership and ownership of the process, extending to the Office of the President of Namibia, was truly exemplary.

“One of the reasons we are here today is to recognise and encourage this progress,” Mutamba said. He highlighted the Namibia Strategy for the Transformation of the Agrifood Sector (STAS), which defines modalities for the governance and coordination of the agrifood sector.

He further noted that, at the end of 2025, they visited Namibia for support missions and that “it was inspiring to see the progress this country has already achieved.” - Media release
