MTC pledges N$150,000 to Lüderitz Crayfish Festival

Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has reaffirmed its commitment to community empowerment and sustainable development through a sponsorship valued at N$150,000 for the 2026 Lüderitz Crayfish Festival.

The contribution was announced during the Lüderitz Crayfish Festival Fundraising Gala Dinner. This support forms part of a broader collective effort by key stakeholders to bolster one of Namibia’s most celebrated cultural and tourism events.

John Ekongo, MTC’s corporate affairs manager, highlighted the significance of the sponsorship, reiterating the company’s dedication to platforms that drive economic participation and community upliftment. The Lüderitz Crayfish Festival serves as a vital hub for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), entrepreneurs, and local businesses to showcase their offerings, stimulate economic activity, and create sustainable livelihoods.

MTC’s involvement aligns with its broader corporate social investment strategy, which focuses on initiatives that create meaningful opportunities, strengthen local economies, and contribute to long-term national development.

“We believe in investing in platforms that empower communities and unlock economic opportunities. The Lüderitz Crayfish Festival continues to play a vital role in supporting local entrepreneurs and driving sustainable development, and we are proud to be part of its growth,” said Ekongo.

Addressing MTC’s ongoing investment in community-driven initiatives, he added: “Annually, we commit a total of N$1.2 million in sponsorships to various trade shows and expos across the country, allowing us to continue making a positive impact on social and economic development initiatives.”
