All-new Destinator set to ignite a new era of adventure
The all-new Mitsubishi Destinator is set to redefine family travel, offering more space and enhanced technology while balancing modern comfort with Mitsubishi Motors’ proven reliability.
Unveiled globally in 2025, the Destinator has been developed for emerging markets in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, combining strong build quality with value for money. It will be produced at the brand’s Indonesian plant, which also manufactures models such as the Outlander Sport and Xpander.
Inside
Inside, comfort and technology take centre stage. Features include a panoramic sunroof, 65-colour ambient lighting, a large 12.3" infotainment screen paired with an 8" digital instrument cluster, and a Yamaha sound system. Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 120kW and 250Nm, driving the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Five driving modes allow motorists to tailor performance and efficiency to suit their needs.
Mitsubishi’s off-road technologies, including Active Yaw Control, are designed to ensure stable and confident handling across a variety of road surfaces and weather conditions.
“The Destinator is an all-new SUV designed for families and explorers alike. With its bold capabilities and versatile design, we are excited to help our customers embark on new journeys while strengthening our presence in the compact SUV segment,” says Lerato Nonyane, General Manager: Product and Marketing at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa.
Blend between MPV and SUV
Blending the practicality of an MPV with the styling of an SUV, the Destinator offers seating for seven across three rows. The layout is highly flexible, with the second row featuring a 40:20:40 split and the third row a 50:50 split. In addition, 25 cleverly designed storage spaces provide ample room for everyday essentials and family gear.
The all-new Mitsubishi Destinator is equipped with the latest active and passive safety systems, including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and six airbags. It has earned a maximum five-star rating in the 2025 ASEAN NCAP safety assessment programme for new vehicles in the region.
Since its global debut in 2025, the Destinator has received several accolades, including the Japanese Good Design Award, a Gold Award in the Best Industrial Product Design category at the VMARK Vietnam Design Awards, and ‘Best of the Best’ at Indonesia’s 2025 FORWOT Car of the Year awards.
“As part of an exclusive pre-launch campaign commencing in March 2026, the first 20 customers to secure an all-new Mitsubishi Destinator will not only be able to purchase it at a special price, but will also unlock a substantial mystery prize – an extraordinary reward designed to ignite their ownership journey and set the tone for countless adventures behind the wheel,” Nonyane concludes .
