Namibia youth to benefit from offshore training program

The Namibia Youth Energy Forum (NYEF) recently announced a strategic partnership with the global company, Atlas Professionals, to roll out the Greenhand Program, an offshore training program for youth. This program has been successfully implemented in other countries, including Aberdeen in Scotland, Brazil, and is currently underway in Suriname.

Following these successes, the program will be rolled out in Windhoek, Walvis Bay, and Lüderitz. The Greenhand Program is designed to provide comprehensive offshore training, equipping Namibian youth with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the oil and gas sector. This initiative is implemented in partnership with various international oil and gas drilling companies and international oil companies. NYEF is excited to leverage this opportunity to bring this training to Namibia, marking the first time it will be offered in the country, and it will be provided free of charge.

Commenting on this partnership, Dorriane Zammit, the International Business Development Manager of Atlas Professionals, expressed her enthusiasm.

“I am super excited to be working with the Namibia Youth Energy Forum and other stakeholders in the country to provide this training opportunity. This program has seen great success in the UK, Brazil, and Suriname, and I am thrilled to bring it to Namibia to up-skill the youth and maximise local content.”

Fanuel Shinedima, the chairperson of the Namibia Youth Energy Forum, shared his excitement and gratitude. “We are very much excited and grateful to Atlas Professionals and all the stakeholders for making such an opportunity available for Namibian youth. This program will up-skill our youth and provide them with meaningful participation in Namibia’s oil and gas sector. We call on all stakeholders to join us in supporting our various programs to ensure that youth across the country are empowered.”
