CPBN award contract to enhance television and radio transmission
The Central Procurement Board of Namibia (CPBN) announced the signing of a major procurement contract with Intelsat Ventures, on behalf of the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), for the implementation of Direct-To-Home (DTH) Transmission Services. The contract is valued at N$121 million.
The contract signing marks a significant milestone in Namibia’s efforts to enhance nationwide broadcasting capabilities and ensure equitable access to radio and television services, the CPBN said.
NBC Director-General Stanley Similo described the occasion as a profound moment for the NBC and, by extension, Namibia.
He emphasised that the DTH project aims to increase national coverage from the current 74.5% for television and 78% for radio to 100%.
“What DTH does is it gives immediate, direct coverage to the entire country. This is a significant milestone that Namibia is witnessing today. Within six to seven months, Namibians across all corners of the country will be able to experience improved access to national radio and television services,” Similo said.
