NCCI engages Hardap business community

For August 2025, the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) extended its business mobilisation and branch revitalisation efforts to the southern region.

The Chamber engaged with business representatives in Mariental at the Hardap Regional Council offices, in a session aimed at explaining the Chamber’s structure and demonstrating how enterprises of all sizes can leverage it to advocate for a conducive business ecosystem and advance their interests through the Chamber network.

The Governor of the Hardap Region Riaan Charles McNab, addressed the meeting and welcomed the initiative. He expressed his satisfaction at seeing the business community come together to create structured communication channels within the private sector.

He further noted that while government has development commitments to fulfil, these cannot be fully realised without the active participation of a functional and organised

private sector. He therefore emphasised the importance of well-structured committees to engage government and local leadership for effective partnership.

The Chamber secretariat, headed by the CEO, Titus Nampala, provided a summary of the Chamber’s role in advancing the interests of the private sector and in promoting entrepreneurship.

Nampala underscored the strategic importance of Mariental and its surroundings to Namibia’s food security through agriculture, while also pointing to untapped opportunities in the tourism sector. He highlighted that for entrepreneurship to flourish and for investment capital to flow into the town, the business community must actively influence development strategies

and municipal by-laws.

During the session, entrepreneurs raised concerns regarding the development of their branch and NCCI’s role in fostering change and access to finance for emerging enterprises and youth. With clarity provided on the Chamber’s role in amplifying private sector voices, entrepreneurs expressed strong interest in revitalizing the Mariental branch.
