Galito’s targets growth as ninth store opens
Galito’s Namibia is set to open its newest outlet in Okuryangava, marking the brand’s ninth store in the country since entering the market in 2023.
The launch, taking place on 10 July, featuring the company’s traditional opening celebrations, including prize giveaways and a live broadcast by Omulunga Radio. The event is expected to create a festive atmosphere while introducing customers to the brand’s flame-grilled chicken.
Beyond the opening day activities, Galito’s says customers can continue to expect the consistent flavours and menu items they have come to know and enjoy over the past few years.
Meet the GaliPod
The Okuryangava outlet will operate under the company’s GaliPod concept, a fully operational kitchen housed in a refurbished shipping container and designed for smaller or non-traditional locations.
The company says the concept allows outlets to be established in a wide range of settings, from urban car parks to rural areas, and can be relocated if market conditions or customer traffic patterns change.
The GaliPod model is intended to reduce the initial capital investment required by franchisees while increasing flexibility and bringing the Galito’s brand closer to customers. Each unit arrives fully equipped and operational, with grills and food preparation areas needed to serve flame-grilled chicken and side dishes.
Flexibility
By removing the need for permanent brick-and-mortar construction and traditional shopping centre leases, the concept lowers the barrier to entry for entrepreneurs seeking to establish a franchise with lower start-up costs.
For customers, the GaliPod offers a fully equipped restaurant experience in convenient locations close to home or work, combining accessibility with a casual dining environment.
Galito’s Namibia has experienced strong growth since launching in the country in 2023. Its first outlet in Klein Windhoek continues to serve as the flagship and training store.
With the opening of the Okuryangava branch, the company will have expanded to nine stores in just three years. It says this growth is a source of pride, particularly given the size of its development and operations team.
Job creation
The expansion has also contributed to job creation. Each store employs an average of 20 people, bringing the total number of jobs created to about 180.
Galito’s says all employees receive extensive training to ensure consistent food preparation and service standards while also gaining skills and experience that may support their future career development.
The company adds that its products, including poultry and fresh produce, are sourced locally wherever possible, reflecting its commitment to supporting the Namibian economy and local suppliers.
Looking ahead, Galito’s plans to continue expanding its footprint across Namibia, with a target of 30 stores over the next five years. The company says this growth could create more than 600 jobs while generating opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs and franchise partners.
