NBL gears up for Windhoek Oktoberfest 2025

Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) is preparing to host its much-anticipated annual Windhoek Oktoberfest, promising an enhanced and vibrant experience for attendees across two days, running from Friday, 31 October, to Saturday, 1 November. The event, which has deep roots in both European tradition and Namibian culture, focuses this year on ensuring maximum enjoyment alongside responsible consumption.

Namibia’s Own Oktoberfest Tradition

Namibia, with its strong historical and cultural ties to Germany, adopted the Oktoberfest tradition decades ago. The Windhoek Oktoberfest, which has been held in the capital for over six decades (with NBL being an integral supporter and organiser), serves as a vibrant cultural bridge, blending Bavarian authenticity with unique Namibian flair. The annual event is a staple on the national social calendar, providing a space for different population groups to celebrate together. NBL, which famously adheres to the German Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot) of 1516 in its brewing process, naturally organises the festival around the quality and tradition of its beverages.

Festival Enhancements and Culinary Highlights

This year’s Windhoek Oktoberfest is scaling up its infrastructure to manage the growing crowds, with organisers announcing significant improvements to attendee comfort. The bar space is being doubled, and additional taps are being installed to ensure a smoother service experience. Furthermore, the cashless payment systems have been streamlined to operate more efficiently throughout the weekend.

The event promises a full traditional programme of entertainment and food. The musical line-up includes the world-class original Oktoberfest band from Munich, Die Kirchdorfer, alongside popular local favourites. The atmosphere will be enhanced by a bigger dance floor and better overall vibes, ensuring more space for fun for everyone.

Gastronomic offerings will feature a delicious fusion of authentic German cuisine, such as pretzels and various sausages, complemented by classic Namibian dishes, catering to all palates. Crucially, the festival will feature the exclusive Windhoek Festbier, a special brew crafted by Namibia Breweries Limited only once a year for the event, served alongside perennial favourites from the Windhoek Beer range.

A Focus on Responsibility and Non-Alcoholic Options

Amidst the celebratory environment, NBL is placing a strong emphasis on health and responsible consumption. Waldemar von Lieres, NBL Managing Director, addressed the importance of making sensible choices throughout the two-day event.

“At NBL we enjoy a good celebration and so this year, no underage drinking, no drinking and driving, and we encourage everyone to make smart choices and then really have a great time,” Mr Von Lieres stated.

He highlighted the comprehensive provision of non-alcoholic alternatives available to all attendees, noting that "real enjoyment does not just depend on alcohol, it just depends on us being together, and having a good time, and really enjoying the moment.” NBL will provide a hydration station and a wide selection of non-alcoholic beverages, including Heineken Zero, Savannah Zero, and the popular Windhoek Non-Alcoholic and Windhoek Non-Alcoholic Lemon, giving patrons plenty of choices to toast the occasion responsibly.
