B2Gold expands school e-learning

B2Gold has partnered with Eduvision since 2018, using digital technology to extend teaching resources to schools, particularly those in remote areas where access to specialist teachers and learning materials can be limited.

The Eduvision system enables teachers to deliver lessons through interactive Smartboards to several classrooms simultaneously via a dedicated satellite connection.

B2Gold said its continued investment in the programme aimed to reduce educational disparities by offering pupils in remote schools access to teaching resources that would otherwise be difficult to secure.

The 2025 examination performance of Epukiro Post 3 and Kandjimi Murangi has now supplied the company with measurable academic results from two of the supported schools.

Along with supplying the second set of digital equipment, the company trained teachers to use the systems effectively. B2Gold stated the additional interactive boards have since been incorporated extensively into daily teaching at both schools.

The company did not attribute the examination results solely to the technology, saying the performance also reflected the dedication of pupils and teachers.

Plans to bring Coblenz into the programme were highlighted in March when representatives of B2Gold and Eduvision visited Ombili Primary School in Otjiwarongo as part of a delegation that included Deputy Education Minister Dino Ballotti.

Coblenz formally joined the Eduvision project in May before its digital classroom opened two months later.

The addition means pupils at the school can access recorded lessons and digitally delivered teaching materials through the interactive classroom.

B2Gold was Eduvision’s first corporate partner in a relationship that began in 2018 and has continued for eight years.

The partnership has expanded beyond the initial provision of digital technology to include classroom infrastructure, teacher training, and additional equipment for participating schools.

B2Gold stated the objective is to ensure that geographical location does not prevent pupils from accessing quality educational material.

The latest expansion comes as mining companies face growing expectations to demonstrate how social investment in local communities translates into measurable outcomes beyond the lifespan of individual mining projects.

In the case of B2Gold, the national examination performance of Epukiro Post 3 and Kandjimi Murangi provides one indicator of progress. However, the company’s latest update does not disclose how much money it has invested in Eduvision since 2018, the total number of pupils currently benefiting from its funding, or how academic performance at supported schools compares with their results prior to joining the scheme.
