Coastal real-estate stars honoured
Bank Windhoek hosted the Coastal Estate Agent Awards on Friday, 13 March 2026, in Swakopmund, celebrating the professionals driving excellence in the property sector. The event recognised top-performing agencies while highlighting the coastal market’s renewed momentum, spurred by tourism and emerging offshore oil and gas activity.
The awards reflect an increasingly competitive coastal market. Rochelle Mulder of LaRochelle Properties was recognised in the N$15 million to N$20 million loan business category, with LaRochelle Properties also securing Gold for Achiever of the Year (N$25 million or more). HomePage Estate Agency received the Silver award in the same category.
Honours for Loan Business in the N$10 million to N$15 million range went to Alexia Mofokeng (Mofokeng Realtors), Velia Liebenberg (Henties Bay Estates), and Chrissi Van Dyk (HomePage Estate Agency). Karen Leemans (HomePage Estate Agency) was recognised in the N$7.5 million to N$10 million range.
Further recognition in the N$5 million to N$7.5 million range was awarded to Ivo Mateus, Cecilia Muller, Claudia Lofty-Eaton, Pieter Deval, Melany Hill, Olga Human, and Morne Henry Human. In the Sale of Distressed Properties category, Steinie Steinbach of Henric Estates received a Bronze award.
A growing market
Bank Windhoek chief financial officer, Zenaune Kamberipa, said the coast now accounts for approximately one-fifth of Namibia’s housing transactions. He said the residential development accounts for nearly nine out of ten building approvals in Swakopmund.
Kamberipa said that while discoveries in the Orange Basin will reshape property dynamics, the bank remains a "catalytic" partner in supporting this growth. However, he said that stakeholders must collaborate to manage constraints, such as affordability and supply limitations, to ensure coastal towns remain viable.
