FAWENA, Standard Bank back youth
Standard Bank Namibia, in partnership with the Forum for African Women Educationalists Namibia (FAWENA), has launched the Blue Child Champion Leadership Camp, aimed at equipping young Namibians with skills and knowledge for life beyond secondary school.
The two-day camp brought together 83 Grade 11 and 12 learners from all 14 regions for sessions on career guidance, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, higher education, personal development, mentorship and leadership.
The camp forms part of the FAWENA Blue Child Champion Programme, a partnership between Standard Bank Namibia and FAWENA that provides academic support, life skills development, mentorship and leadership opportunities.
Speaking at the launch, Sindano Nekundi, Brand and Marketing Manager at Standard Bank Namibia, said investing in young people was essential to national development.
"At Standard Bank Namibia, we believe that investing in young people is investing in Namibia's future. Through partnerships such as this, we aim to create access to knowledge, opportunity and the confidence young people need to shape their own futures."
Standard Bank Namibia has invested N$1.5 million in the programme, supporting 317 boys and girls across Namibia with school uniforms, stationery and toiletries, as well as ongoing life skills programmes.
Rauha Haufiku, a FAWENA board member, thanked Standard Bank Namibia for its continued investment in young Namibians and highlighted the importance of opportunities that allow learners to develop leadership skills and make informed decisions about their futures.
The partnership reflects Standard Bank Namibia's commitment to working with organisations to address community needs and create opportunities for young people.
Addressing the learners, Nekundi encouraged them to embrace opportunities presented to them.
"Dream boldly, ask questions, seek mentors, understand your finances, and never allow your current circumstances to define the limits of your future."
Through the programme, Standard Bank Namibia said it remained committed to helping unlock the potential of Namibia's youth.
